According to the Washington Post, legendary singer Loretta Lynn has passed away. The family of Lynn sent the following statement to the Associated Press: “Our precious mom, Loretta Lynn, passed away peacefully this morning, October 4th, in her sleep at home in her beloved ranch in Hurricane Mills.”
According to Lynn’s relatives, she passed away on Tuesday at her Hurricane Mills, Tennessee, home. She was 90 years old.

Lynn had a career in country music for six decades and has several gold albums. Before beginning her career in the early 1960s, Lynn had four children, and her songs showcased her pride in her rural Kentucky upbringing.
Her honesty and distinctive position in country music were honored. At the two biggest award ceremonies for the genre, the Country Music Association in 1972 and the Academy of Country Music three years later, she became the first woman to ever be chosen entertainer of the year.
