Who was Dalton Keane? Football Fan Dies After Falling From Escalators At Acrisure Stadium

The football fan who died after collapsing during Sunday’s Steelers-Jets game has been identified.

At 4:45 p.m. in Pittsburgh, Dalton Keane, 27, fell from an escalator inside the Acrisure Stadium, according to authorities. Shortly after New York trounced the home team 24-20, the deadly occurrence occurred.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s office verified Keane’s identification to The Post on Monday morning. According to officials, the victim resided in Monaca, Pennsylvania, a small borough in Beaver County located 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.


How Did Dalton Keane Die?

According to authorities, paramedics treated the patient on the spot before rushing Keane to a nearby hospital in severe condition. The medical examiner reports that he was pronounced dead at the hospital at 5:10 PM, 25 minutes after falling.

When The Post called a close relative of Keane, he said he did not know what caused the fall and that he was on his route to the mortuary, NYpost reported. Burt Lauten, the Steelers’ spokesperson, stated in a statement: “We are aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred inside Acrisure Stadium today,”

“We are working with local authorities and helping investigate the matter. We are sending our thoughts and prayers to the guest’s family.”


The event, which is being looked into, was the most recent tragedy involving escalators and football fans at NFL stadiums.

During a performance by The Weekend in July, a guy fell from an escalator rail inside Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Eagles. Later that month, following a Kenny Chesney concert, a lady died after falling down an escalator at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

Following a Patriots game at Gillette Stadium, a moving staircase at a Massachusetts rail station malfunctioned, sending nine people to the hospital. Video captured the moment when the escalator appeared to reverse and a crowd of people fell backward.
