New Banner Trading Service Offered At ICN

Published by Indy Admin under News

Indy Comic News is now offering a new banner trading service aimed at independent publishers, self-publishers, creators, bloggers, comic retailers, and comic- and graphic novel-related sites who are interested in “trading” banners.

Trading banners is just as it sounds: two parties would essentially swap banners (the deal to trade banners would be conducted by the two parties- not ICN) so that their individual banners would appear on the other party’s web site or blog, linking to the other’s web site.

You can learn more about this new service by going to the Banner Trading page.

SKYSCRAPERS OF THE MIDWEST Collected Summer 2008

Published by AdHouse Books under News

Publisher / Creator: AdHouse Books
Date: March 7, 2008

Over five years in the making… AdHouse Books is proud to announce the future publication of the Skyscrapers of the Midwest hardcover collection by Joshua W. Cotter.

Skyscrapers of the Midwest is best described as the winding tale of a young cat, his little brother, and the creeping shadow of imminent adolescence in the American heartland. Eisner and Ignatz nominated, Skyscrapers was the winner of the 2004 Isotope Award for Excellence in Mini-Comics.

quotes:
“This is one odd fucking book.”
– Warren Ellis

“Skyscrapers of the Midwest is one of the the best debut series this decade. Few cartoonists on their best day could capture childhood and its awesome disappointments with the intensity that Josh Cotter somehow conveys in this first major work. Moments this terrifyingly intimate shouldn’t make for such beautiful comics.”
– Tom Spurgeon, The Comics Reporter

As its planners prepare the weekend-long schedule of scholarly presenters, the “Graven Images: Religion in Comic Books & Graphic Novels” conference already has a number of top comic book creators coming to Boston University next month. On Sunday, April 13th, conference attendees will get to take part in a Creator Q&A with Saurav Mohapatra (India Authentic), Steve Ross (Marked!), Archaia Studios Press publisher Mark Smylie (Artesia Besieged), and G. Willow Wilson (Cairo).

The five panelists, representing a wide variety of faiths and works, will join conference co-chair A. David Lewis (The Lone and Level Sands, Some New Kind of Slaughter) in an open discussion of religion, creativity, and the comic book medium. “I’m delighted not only that they’ve all accepted our invitation,” says Lewis, “but that they also represent a wonderful cross-section of spiritualities. They nicely embody the diversity we are eager to explore in the medium with ‘Graven Images.’”

How To Post PRs / Announcements On ICN

Published by Indy Admin under News

Judging from the emails we’ve received so far, it appears some people are still unclear on how posting press releases / announcements here on the ICN site works.

Adding your press release or announcement to the ICN is different than most comic news sites. At ICN, you- the publisher, self-publisher, or creator- add the PR or announcement yourself! This gives you almost free reign to post your company’s press releases / announcements.

To get started posting your PRs / announcements here, simply use the contact form found on the Contact page to provide us the following information:

Your name
Your company’s name (if applicable)
Your company’s URL or a link to a web site people can find you at
An email address where you can be contacted
The names of a couple of titles you have published or worked on
And state that you are requesting an account to post on the site
If you want to be included in the Publisher’s Directory, let us know here as well alone with providing us your mailing address
